I know, writing down every thing you eat can be tedious and annoying, but it can also be enlightening and empowering. When you track what you eat, even if it is only for 3 days in a row, you start to notice trends. You may notice you start snacking on things at your office around 10 am, just a few hours after your breakfast, or that you have over 4 cups of coffee on a daily basis. Noticing these trends is super important because it helps you to realize what you are putting in to your body at certain times of the day, which is why it is JUST AS IMPORTANT to also track your “moods.” Write down when you have energy, when you’re tired, when you feel full, frustrated, hungry, jittery, anxious, exhausted, constipated, bloated, achy, cranky, content, energized, calm, relaxed, focused, foggy, depressed, happy… you get the idea. You don’t have to write about why or analyze it, just notice it. This is a smart step to gaining control and understanding over your own tendencies, cravings, and ultimately, choices.
